The following is the development cycle of Metal Gear Surive.

Summary[edit | edit source]

Metal Gear Survive was announced on August 16th, 2016 as part of the 2016 Gamescom conference. The game was called a "fresh take on the series" by Konami Europe president Tomotada Tashiro, though the fans at the reveal event were not so positive.

Konami USA responded to fans on Reddit, stating that the game would have single player options, and that the story of Survive should be "considered as a parallel story". Staff commented further to Dengeki Playstation managainze, stating that the player will have single player options and will be allowed to customize their character, craft weapons, and develop new equipment per each play style.

The first gameplay demo was shown on September 17th, 2016, at Tokyo Game Show 2016. During the same show, Hideo Kojima was asked if he had anything to do with that game. He said the title had "nothing to do with" him, that the series was focused on "political fiction and espionage", and that zombies never fit into his vision in a significant way.
